To get your dog started at The Dog Lodge, your dog will need to be up-to-date on our vaccine requirements and will need to complete an Introduction Day. We may recommend additional days of Daycare prior to Lodging your dog as well, to help familiarize them to our environment, as our Lodgers follow the same routine as our Daycare dogs with just a few extra meal breaks!

While we usually have space to accommodate most Lodging dates, it’s always smart to plan ahead- especially for holidays and high vacation times! You can book over the phone at 248-446-0722 or through our PawPartner portal. Please note that busy times may require a non-refundable prepayment which you can learn more about at the end of the page.

What We Offer

It can be stressful leaving your dog for an extended stay, but you can rest assured that at The Dog Lodge, we prioritize making your dog’s lodging stay with us as stress-free and comfortable as possible! We offer a number of lodging services to accommodate each dog’s specific needs. Whether your dog is a young, active social butterfly or an older couch potato, we’re excited to have them over for a safe & fun sleep over!

We do everything we can to keep our guests comfortable and work together with owners to ensure the safety & comfort of their furry loved-ones.

Routine

The routine for our Lodgers is the same as the routine for our Daycare guests and for good reason! Dogs thrive on routine and structure. The consistency brings comfort & confidence, especially in new environments. So by coming in for a day of daycare prior to an overnight lodging stay, it helps mentally prepare our guests for a sleepover.

Our regular routine gives guests 8 hours of playtime a day split into 1-3 hour chunks with kennel break time in between. This break time gives our guests a chance to rest, decompress, and eat, as well as giving our staff a chance to clean and sanitize the facility.

If your dog is nervous or stressed in new places, often times bringing them in for additional days of Daycare prior to their overnight stays can help!

Standard vs Specialized Lodging Services

At the Dog Lodge, we separate our dogs in different playgroups & sections that best fit their needs. The majority of dogs do well in Standard playgroups, that host up to 10-15 dogs of the similar sizes and temperaments. These playgroups are split between buildings and allow dogs to play with a large selection of friends, work on group skill exercises, and get cuddles from our staff. For our Standard dogs, it’s great to make their stay extra special with any number of our Enrichment services!

Our Specialized section accommodates a number of dogs that don’t do well in regular, active playgroups. They still socialize with smaller groups, but they are able to enjoy a calmer environment with more 1-on-1 time with staff members, more mental stimulation and enrichment activities. There are two main types of dogs who need specialized services- dogs with higher medical needs and dogs with higher behavioral needs.

To learn more in depth about the difference between our Standard services & Specialized services, read about it on our Daycare page! To learn about the difference between our Senior Care & Limited Play, read on.

Specialized Limited Play

Our Limited Play program is set up for dogs who don’t have high medical needs, but cannot be in a full playgroup. These dogs may be overwhelmed by a large number of dogs or are working on their socialization skills. Instead of getting their exercise in a playgroup, our Limited Play dogs are treated to multiple walks, enrichment, and 1-on-1 play with the staff. Some dogs are also able to have private socialization sessions with dogs hand selected to help teach & strengthen socialization skills!

Specialized Senior Care

This program is designed for dogs with special medical needs, geriatric dogs, dogs with severe medical ailments, and some post-op dogs. Animal environments are often exhausting for the geriatric crowd and/or dogs with medical ailments, so this program is designed to minimize the stress on these guests. Our staff has training in caring for pets with special needs so we are able to understand the limitations they may have. Visitors in Specialized Senior Care have a personalized daily routine based around their individual needs, including multiple walks a day, large lounging areas, and additional enrichment!

Dogs can be considered for this program due to age at anywhere between 8-12 years of age, depending on breed and other medical factors.

Accommodations & What to Bring

Dogs lodging are booked an individual kennel that correlates to their size which is fitted with our own comfy blankets and a water bowl. We have plenty of cots, blankets, comforters, buckets, bowls, and toys to ensure every dog here has the essentials. For dogs who are picky, run out of food, or have GI upset, we have Hill’s Science & Prescription Diets on hand for an additional charge.

Although we do have food on hand, we ask that clients bring their own food in Ziplock or Grocery bags as a consistent diet is good for a dog’s GI health. We are able to administer meds, but ask that all medications and supplements come in their original container so we have dosing instructions available on the bottle. Clients are also welcome to bring 1 blanket (no padded beds) from home and up to 2 toys, although we caution that these things do have a risk of being lost or destroyed.

Prices & Hours

Our prices vary by service, but we always charge by night. There is a discount available for any stay booked OVER 12 nights long. Sibling dogs get an additional $10 off per night. Payment is always due at pick up with the exception of holidays and busy times, which require a non-refundable prepayment 2 weeks prior. These dates may include: New Year, MidWinter Break, Spring Break, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If your stay requires a non-refundable prepayment, our staff will notify you well in advanced of payment.

Drop off and pick up is any time between 8am-12pm Monday through Saturday and any time between 3pm-7pm on Sundays. Note that this is different from our Daycare hours!

You can make your dog’s stay extra special by adding on enrichment items, such as extra playtime, games, or snacks for an additional $5-10! We’re always offering extra special services, such as Lick Paintings, outdoor playtime, agility practice, scentwork exercises, and more!
